Editorial policy
Eastern County Journal aims to make county geography and local records clear without overstating what they establish. We distinguish evidence from interpretation, identify uncertainty and correct errors when they are brought to our attention.
Accuracy and sources
We check factual statements against appropriate source material and give readers enough context to understand what a map, record or name can establish. A source may be incomplete, created for a particular purpose or difficult to interpret; where that matters, we say so. We do not present a plausible explanation as settled fact.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for the publication's readers and subject matter. A partnership or commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage, a favourable view or editorial approval. Where an outside relationship is relevant to a piece, we disclose it clearly.
Corrections
Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. We review the claim and supporting information, then correct the text when warranted. Significant changes are described in the article so readers can tell what was amended; minor wording fixes may not need a separate note.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid, commissioned or otherwise partner-supported material is clearly labelled near the relevant content. Partner links and placements are identified as such and do not represent independent editorial recommendations. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when used, they are labelled so readers can distinguish illustration from documentary imagery.
